Don't let the worn-down outside fool you - behind the doors of what used to be the Shakespeare you'll find one of Dublin's hidden gems when it comes to Korean food and Sushi. Delicious fusion food between said Korean dishes, Japanese specialities and freshly prepared Sushi - with a wide array of drinks including Sapporo beer and Sake and quick and friendly service this place is a winner. You sometimes have to point at the pictures on the menu when ordering, due to various degrees of English on the part of your waiter; but otherwise I never had a bad evening here. It gets crowded on the weekend, so you sometimes will need to sit in the bar which is not as cosy as the restaurant. Food is as brilliant there, though.
This used to be the Shakespeare, if you ever heard of it was probably through a glowing word of mouth recommendation. It’s now known as the Hop-House, but the formula is the same: a fantastic korean fusion restaurant, serving tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced food. Attached is a bar, which often has live music, including as raggae, ska and world music genres. The smoking area has nice murals. Fantastic spot to eat, drink and chill.
