There's not much to add to the previous reviews of my fellow Qypers. The Sheeben has both improved the live shows and the food.

You'll find live music on almost every day of the week, and even when it's only the odd accoustic duo covering The Cure the quality of artists is exceptional, good booking on the side of the venue.

Foodwise they have now settled on a small menu with some daily specials, but both vegetarians and carnivores are catered for, and all dishes are made of homegrown Irish products and ingredients.

The only downside is that service can be slow on Fridays and Saturdays, so if you're planning to have a romatic dinner for two amongst third-hand-furniture you better go on a Sunday. If you are heading there for drinks only on the weekend the craig however is mighty.

The address says George's Street, but you can go in the back (like I do) from Dame Lane! It's hip and trendy; a place to hangout, have a few drinks and a meal. The decor includes dim lighting, ie. stick candles overflowing and dripping with wax, a collage of colourful pictures, comfortable couches, and an intimate bar. The food is delicious, in my opinion, and specializes in Irish traditions, such as boxty, stew, etc. The prices are reasonable - total for 2 was under 70 euro which included several pints, 2 main courses, and 2 deserts. Not only this but the atmosphere is funky and relaxed, and when you're finished you have a platter of options for pubs and clubs to head afterwards with Temple bar a few steps away.

Shebeen in Irish means an unlicensed public-house, and I love this quirky name for the newest addition to the Georges Street strip.
It a great concept, the 'green' bar in the greenest country! It is simple enough, the recycled furniture, the discounted alcohol... and that makes it sound odd. Let me explain! All the alcohol is reduced price as it is faulty in some way- a pealing label, a ridge in the glass of a bottle, etc, so that you have a chance here to sample some quality without feeling the guilty pinch from your wallet.
The furniture is all pre-loved, restored or from auction, an the plan here is to have days when you can come in and have clothes swaps, and also bring in a piece or two to swap for the furniture that resides here! I'm very keen on this American inspired approach to community recycling.
There is a lovely cosy bar area downstairs, and the staff are friendly and always up for a chat. There are some amazing live music nights on offer here, and no cover charge is a plus!
My only query is regarding the food. There have been some very mixed responses about the menu, and I think until this place has a chance for more feedback the menu will be a chance rather than a safe bet!

Cool restaurant on George’s Street. Everything recycled (cept the food of course)...second hand furniture, clothes hanging from the ceiling.
Food a bit salty, but if you can suffer that (in fact, food not brilliant at all) but it’s the atmosphere you go for.
young and funky and reasonably priced
