1 review of Spanish Arch in English
See reviews in more languagesThe Spanish Arch is a set of Arches that were built in 1584, to make an extension of the City walls of Galway in Ireland, which owas te purpose of protecting the city’s River called Quays.
The Spanish Arche is sited on the left bank of the corrib, thats where Galways river meets the sea.
In the year 1755, the arches were partly destroyed by the tsunami, which was generated by the Lisbon earthquake.
I think the arches have a lot of istory behind them and I think its a very educatonal place to see.
