Top Gear School of Motoring

As a nervous beginner, I passed my driving test first time after a number of lessons with Des. I found him very patient and friendly each lesson. He was also very flexible and would take lessons on any day of the week. He had great knowledge of the test routes and was even able to predict (correctly) which route the tester would take based on the time of my test.

After hearing a number of ‘disaster’ stories from friends about various driving instructors, I couldn’t praise Des enough and would recommend him to anyone wishing to pass their driving test first time.

I chose Des’ school due to the claim of 95% first time pass rate. After passing my test first time I am happy to bolster this statistic. With only a couple of classes with Des I became a lot more confident and competent in a very short space of time. Possibly most important was a one hour pre-test lesson to really prepare. Everything in the above reviews is true about Des. When money is tough many people may want to skip the lessons and take their chance with the test. Don’t! I wholeheartedly recommend that anyone who wants to pass to give Des a call. Des, I genuinely appreciate your help and advice. Thank you.

A friend of mine advised to contact Des to take my first driving lessons. After my experience, I really recommend Top Gear School of Motoring.
He’s is very patient and calm which helps a lot during the first lessons. He is very helpful and knows what he’s doing. You will get excellent feedback after every lesson.

What to say about this school of motoring.? .. well what isn’t there to say.? Des is truely a fantastic instructor, and his quallifications say it all.! He brings you up and down every route possible for the test, which makes the test that bit easier when you know where you’re going.

Des was my first and only instructor and he thought me everything there is to know.! His great big smile at the start of every lesson always made it a joy to go out and try tackle the rules of the road and always great company in the car, never an awkward silence (:

i’d reccommend this chap to anyone becuase it’s easy to believe his 95% pass 1st time rate, he’s the nicest and most easy-going instructor in cork, and he knows all the tricks in the book.!!

Des is a gifted instructor and he gave me – apart from many practical advises – a lot of encouragement and support. I had failed the test twice before I started to go to Des for lessons. Under his tuition I passed without difficulty.

Des teaches in a relaxed, informal manner. His lessons covered all aspects of the test including theory, manoeuvres and observation.

I opted for the five lesson package and would recommend it as ideal test preparation.

I took a course of lessons with Des in preparation for my driving test. Not only did I pass first time, the tester actually asked who my instructor was as I was driving so well!! Des is calm, patient and encouraging which is exactly what you want in a driving instructor. I can't recommend him enough

I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST FIRST TIME and that is all down to Des O'Neill of "TOP GEAR" School of Motoring. I could not have done it without him. Firstly he identified and constantly pulled me on ALL my bad habits till they disolved. He prepared me mentally for the test and gave me the confidence to pass with flying colours. On the day of my test, I knew exactly what to do and there were no surprises in the test as Des had successfully prepared me for many of the possible routes where my tester could have taken me.
I was so prepared that I had to carry out "the turnabout" and "the reversing around a bend" maneuvres in the exact same location on the day of my test as we had covered in our lessons. I strongly recommend getting lessons from Des as he knows what he is talking about. He knows what the tester will be looking for and what you have to do to demonstrate safe driving in order to pass.

Thanks a million Des! Thats one more thing in my life that I can tick off as DONE. It was hanging over me for ages and Thanks for being so patient and calm everytime I kept repeating my mistakes LOL.

I'm not surprised to see such great comments for Top Gear School of Motoring. I done a couple of leasons with Des and I would recommend them to anyone whether or not you or a beginer or just trying to loose those nerves before your test.

As I have been driving for awile I thought there was going to be a lot of stuff I already knew in the leason, but Des quickley picked up what I was capable of and where my weak points were.

Without overwhelming information he thought me to drive in a smoother more confident way and if it was not for Top Gear I could not have past my test first time round.

Having put off driving for a long time due to nerves I never imagined i'd be driving around and actually feeling comfortable about it.Des is very patient and from day one described everything from scratch which was brilliant for me as it broke everything down step by step.Excellent instructor

This has got to be the best driving school in Cork.
Des so so patient and friendly. He is calm and relaxed and this makes the nerves of learning to drive fade away. The Toyota Yaris is gorgoeus to drive, and the dual control really put my mind at ease!

Des is very accomodating and will do lessons any day of the week, and practically any time! I went from a nervous wreck driving around an empty car park at 10km/hr, to passing my test first time!!!

Some say "Patience is a virtue" and I have to admit Des is a very patient instructor. Starting from basics of driving he will improve your skills by gradually increasing lessons difficulty and covering everything what's required for driving test.
