Indian food tends to be a disappointment in Dublin in my opinion but this place is the nearest that you will get to the real deal. They have a great selection of curries at reaonable prices. There are a lack of good priced meal deals though so you end up paying quite a bit to be filled up. I’ve ordered deliveries from here and they usually will be about 45 mins so not too bad i guess. They say they use all natural ingredients and you can tell as the taste is quite authentic. As well as this restaurant they have ones in other parts of Dublin - visit http://www.bombaypantry.com/ for more info!

It’s pretty obvious from the name of the place what they are about. They do really great burgers. It’s does offer other pub type foods but I would strongly advise grabbing the burgers and chips. The prices are very good and they have a great range of really nice burgers. You can of course grab a drink here too and it’s just a nice relaxing place to grab a bite to eat. It’s in Dun Laoghaire which means you can go walk off the food you have just eaten afterwards down by the sea. There are a few places you can park nearby.

I’m quite a big fan of break for the border as it has all the things i look for when going for somewhere to drink. Firstly, it’s in a greal location, just a minute away from St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre. The place itself looks really nice both out and in and is really tidy. They have karaoke on Friday nights which give people a chance to make clowns of themselves (myself included!) and before this they have a few pool tables available. The pints are pretty resonably priced and the staff are really warm and welcoming. There’s also a smoking area at the entrance to the place and plenty of places in the near vicinity to gget food and a taxi home afterwards.

This is your typical TK Maxx store, very big and packed full of clothes. I recently came in to grab a belt and they had only xtra small and xtra large sizes - kind of sums up the place. I would say not to come here expecting to find something but do check all the rails as there can be the occassional gem at a very good price. They sell all sorts of stuff, mainly clothes for both men and women, but they also sell quite random stuff (like some gadgets/games stuff like poker sets). The staff here are useless and some struggle to hold a conversation in English which I found infruriating!

The main reason I come here is for a game of bowling. This leisureplex is in Stillorgan, which is a good few miles outside of the city centre but buses come past here every 5 minutes. The prices in this place are over the top in my opinion and I don’t like the fact that they charge you a euro just to get in the place. The bowling lanes are nice enough and there is a little restaurant there serving burgers and chips etc so it’s a nice enough spot for kids parties. The staff here are quite bone idle and tend to be quite unhelpful from my past experience. I like the fact they have a few arcade games but it’s just an easy way to spend a lot of money in a short space of time. There is also a laser quest place here but i’ve never seen it used. There are a few car park spaces if you are driving here, maybe around 20 or so.

I think Dublin Zoo offers a fantastic day out for people of any ages. A group of us 20 somethings went as students (at a discounted rate for a big group i should add!) and we had a great time. They have all of the big guns of the animal world as well as some of the more unusual ones. The zoo is split into different sections, some containing all the birds, others with the big cats etc etc. There is a restaurant here which serves food of a moderate standard and the gift shop is packed with cuddly animals which the kids force their parents to take home as a souvenir of a great day out!

I really do not recommend this place at all. There are a couple of buses that come out here but from my experience they are not the most reliable. The shopping centre to me looks quite old fashioned and a little worse for wear. They have some of the big stores, a decent sized tesco (although the shelves seem empty quite a lot of the time) and a penneys and Dunnes. The basic stuff here isn’t nice though. I find there’s nowhere really to eat, even the McDonalds here is worse than the usual standard. There aren’t many shops here and those that are seem small and not up to the standard of some of the more modern shopping centres in Dublin.

You will find a few of these gift shops in Dublin city centre and its made pretty clear its aimed at the tourist types. This particular store is huge and if you walk past it all you can see is green, everything in it seems to be green. They have a massive range of stuff, mainly souvenirs that tourists can take home to remember their visit. The prices are really expensive, and because a pencil has a shamrock on it and the word Ireland the price goes up by about 50%. They have a nice range of Guinness stuff here too, nice t-shirts and things like tankards/beer mats all that kind of stuff.

This would be one of the pubs I would spend a lot of time in at the weekends and on some nights. There is a very large restaurant area serving a really high standard of food. They have a more pub like area where the locals gather for sports matches and pints and there’s always staff hovering around asking if you want more drinks. I really like the fact that they have a snooker hall here. There are 9 tables (although you should ring ahead as a lot of the time they are booked up on evenings). It has what you would expect from a pub and there are always loads of staff about. Really nice spot and is deceivingly big!

This pub would be one of 2 of my local’s in Dublin. It has the same people in the pub area most of the time (the locals) who come in to watch the sport and have a few jars of moderately priced beer. In the lounge area you will see different people all the time. The food they serve here is great and in particular the Sunday Lunch is really good for the price you pay (it’s a carvery). They’ve recently got a couple of pool tables upstairs which has helped bring in a younger crowd. There’s always more than enough staff in and they’re pretty dead on. The off licence here is fairly handy but doesn’t seem to do any deals. Really cosy local pub, definitely worth a visit.
